Scope of Work
The scope of work of General Welfare Pratisthan (GWP) encompasses initiatives across health, education, poverty reduction, protection of vulnerable populations, peacebuilding, and environmental sustainability.
GWP’s activities are designed to address the needs of marginalized communities in a holistic and integrated manner.
The organization implements programs both at community and institutional levels, collaborating with government bodies, NGOs, CBOs, and local stakeholders.
Following are the key areas that define the scope of GWP's work:
Health Promotion:
- Expanding access to preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services for HIV/AIDS, STIs, and other public health concerns.
- Conducting awareness campaigns on healthy practices, nutrition, sanitation, and disease prevention.
- Supporting care and psychosocial services for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases.
Education Advancement:
- Providing scholarships and educational support for marginalized children from Grade 1 to Grade 10.
- Operating schools or alternative learning programs for children unable to attend formal schooling due to socio-economic constraints.
- Renovating and upgrading school infrastructure to create inclusive and conducive learning environments.
Poverty Reduction and Livelihood Support:
- Implementing income-generating activities (IGAs) and microcredit programs for disadvantaged women and households.
- Facilitating skill development and capacity-building programs to promote economic self-reliance.
- Supporting vulnerable groups in building sustainable livelihoods and reducing dependence on exploitative practices.
Protection of Vulnerable Populations:
- Preventing trafficking and exploitation of girls and women through awareness campaigns, advocacy, and empowerment programs.
- Providing rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration support for survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence.
- Strengthening community networks to safeguard children and women at risk.
Peacebuilding and Social Justice:
- Reducing gender-based and conflict-related violence through community engagement and advocacy.
- Promoting inclusivity, social cohesion, and community resilience.
- Building local capacities to manage conflicts peacefully and equitably.
Environmental Sustainability:
- Raising awareness among communities, particularly youth, on environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
- Promoting activities such as tree plantation, adoption of eco-friendly technologies (e.g., smokeless stoves), and modern agricultural methods.
- Encouraging the protection and sustainable use of natural resources to ensure long-term ecological balance.
Implementation Approach:
- Programs are executed through field teams, peer educators, and community mobilizers who are drawn from or closely connected with the target populations.
- GWP emphasizes an integrated approach where health, education, livelihood, protection, peace, and environmental initiatives reinforce each other to create sustainable impact.
- Continuous monitoring, evaluation, and community feedback mechanisms guide program improvement and accountability.
